Master Bill Pottle is the third head master of the Korean Academy of Taekwondo. As such he is responsible for overseeing all programs and operations, although some programs may be independently run. Master Bill Pottle began training at the Korean Academy of Taekwondo in 1992 under Master Ghassan Timani and Grandmaster J.K. Chung, and martial arts have been a major focus of his life ever since. In high school, he was the head instructor at the Aurora YMCA Taekwondo program. In 1997 he graduated from Overland High School near the top of his class and from 1997 until 2002 he attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where he earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in Biological Engineering. He was an integral part of the Sport Taekwondo at Cornell Club, serving as captain and helping Cornell to five straight Ivy/Northeast League (now ECTC) championship titles. In 2001 he was elected captain of the first Ivy/Northeast League All Star Team. From 2002 until 2004 he worked at the Vector Core facility of the University of Pennsylvania. There he made adenovirus for use in Gene Therapy and vaccines against HIV, SARS, and Ebola. He trained with the University of Pennsylvania Taekwondo team and served on their executive board. In 2003 and 2004 he was the head instructor of the Center City Taekwondo program, a free program in collaboration with Americorps. In 2004 he dedicated his life to teaching martial arts full time and returned to Colorado to take over the Korean Academy of Taekwondo from Master Ghassan Timani. He also became a faculty member in the Human Performance Department of Metro State College of Denver in charge of the Auraria Campus Taekwondo program. He has written a number of fantasy books as well as several books on martial arts. Master Bill is married to Master Katie and generally teaches classes in the Aurora Headquarters Location. He has taught classes and developed curriculum for all ages, for students with disabilities, and for all levels of students. He recently served for two terms as Secretary-General of the Colorado State Taekwondo Association.
