Many people make the mistake of assuming that just because someone is good at martial arts, they will also be good at teaching. WMA offers a rigorous instructor training program that includes CPR/First Aid, Anatomy and Physiology, injury prevention, public speaking, learning styles, working with ADHD and learning disabilities, motivational skills, and more. The course includes theoretical work, practical experience, correcting the “Misadventures of Master Malo,” and a written test. In addition, there are minimum age and belt requirements for all certified instructors.
Assistant Instructors are 11-15 year olds who assist part of class under the supervision of regular instructors.
Our instructor training is based on a book written by Master Bill and Master Katie, who also created the site http://www.wikidrills.com to collect thousands of different drills in one place for our instructors.
